Southern Hospitality Cleaning & Concierge officially supports Cleaning For A Reason! The owner of SHCC’s paternal grandmother and her husbands maternal grandmother are both breast cancer survivors so this movement really speaks to them!
Since 2006, the goal of Cleaning For A Reason has been to reduce the stress and ease the burden a woman faces once a cancer diagnosis is received. A patient can then focus on her health and family and not on her home. Cleaning For A Reason and their network of over 1,200 partner cleaning companies serve women in the United States and Canada. To date, over 21,000 women have received donated cleanings valued at more than $5.9 million through this network of professional cleaning partners.
So if you or someone you know is suffering from cancer, please reach out and let Southern Hospitality know. We would love to take some of the burden of their shoulders.
As we are nearing the end of 2016, we all know more than a handful of women who have had children this year. We are sure that many of our readers have had children and can fully understand that whether it’s your first, second or third child, cleaning doesn’t get any easier. Keeping a house clean is a much bigger burden on new parents than most realize. Exhaustion can cause clutter, clutter can cause stress and stress prevents you from fully enjoying those precious moments with your newest addition. So while everyone is out buying outfits, bouncers, blankets and stuffed animals, gift your friends with something that they’ll be eternally grateful for. Take a look at our cleaning packages to see what may best fit their needs.
Keeping a house clean is a much bigger burden on new parents than most realize.
Southern Hospitality is founded by moms and run by moms, 99% of the time we know exactly what’s more important and less important when it comes to keeping your home tidy. One of our biggest missions with Southern Hospitality Cleaning and Concierge is to take the pressure off of parents. In fact, we let our toddlers run through the owners house (appropriately) destroying everything in their path and show our new hires exactly how we want them to clean it up as apart of their training. Who better to clean and organize your home than moms who have ‘been there done that?’
Let’s talk home organization and organization hacks! When organizing your home, your office, your car or whatever it may be, these are the questions essential to making the organization and simplification process so much easier.
- How often do I use/wear it?
- Is it broken and how long have I said I was going to repair it?
- How much disruption does the item cause? (does it require a lot of maintenance)
- Is is a want or a need?
While I could write an entire book with each chapter highlighting how to organize every different room in your house, today I will be focusing on the ‘hacks’ that have worked in my personal life. Now, we all see hacks that are awesome but they just end up becoming more of a hassle than they do a convenience. As your personal ‘hack addict’, I’m here to give you the report on some of the organizing hacks I cannot live without!
The closet, so many hangers and so many clothes. I don’t know about you ladies but I seem to have a never ending supply of undershirts, camis, and razor backs. I used to spend a good amount of my time finding the right hanger to hold those tiny spaghetti straps and honestly, I about lost my mind in the process. Cut down on the amount of closet space you use and the amount of time putting away laundry with this little trick! (via Listotic)
For those of us with little ones, we know that the car can easily become a traveling dumpster. Don’t be ashamed to admit it, it happens to all of us! This small and inexpensive purchase has saved my car and admittedly, my sanity. (via Pop Sugar)
Ahh… the kitchen pantry. Tiny hands are forever getting into the snacks, tearing down boxes in attempt to reach the chocolate on the top shelf, spilling flour all over themselves, getting into your pets food and just making things impossibly hard to find most days. With a good pantry organization plan, you can make your life a little easier by simply knowing exactly where things go the moment they get misplaced. This is also a great plan in the sense that food items will not go bad, as they do not go ‘unseen’ and uneaten. Try storing you snacks in their own personal storage bin, your boxed items in air tight containers, stack your spices so they are easily seen and accessible, and put your canned goods on a turn table. The possibilities are endless with your kitchen pantry. (via Just A Girl And Her Blog)
Bobby pins, nail clippers, snap clips, tweezers… they are ALWAYS getting lost in the bathroom. You end up tearing your bathroom to pieces looking for one tiny thing in the rush of a normal morning. Like Superwoman says in her blog: “I haven’t lost a bobby pin since!” This magnetic strip is fool proof! (via Superwoman)
I said I would provide you with a few great hacks today, we will definitely be circling back around to the world of cleaning and organizing hacks in our future blogs. Stay tuned!

There are toys strewn all over the floor, dishes piling up in the sink, some unidentifiable gunk on the kitchen counter, two dirty laundry baskets, 1/2 an inch of dust on your blinds and these are just the things you notice as you’re whizzing out the door for work. On your drive to work you begin to think of everything you need to take care of. Work, bills, maybe your child(ren) and that house… that god forsaken house. Your fate is set, your night, days, weekends will consist of cleaning… forever cleaning. Sometimes it might even feel like one of those really bad nightmares you cannot wake up from because it feels like there is always something to clean and always something to organize.
Home organization is one of the most universal stress triggers, according to a recent online survey, eighty-four percent of recently stressed Americans say they worry that their home isn’t clean or organized enough, and within that group, 55 percent called it out as a source of recent stress. Among all those who experienced some level of stress about home organization, nearly a third expressed being very or extremely stressed by their homes. And it wasn’t just a stressor for women: 81 percent of men and 87 percent of women who reported experiencing anxiety over home upkeep. And it’s true: Clutter can up your anxiety levels. Research has shown clutter to raise levels of the stress hormone cortisol, and in the workplace, excess clutter can result in decreased productivity and unprofessional behavior. “Home Organization Is Major Source Of Stress For Americans, Survey Finds” Huffington Post. 22 May 2013
